We love cookies.

We officially did it -- survived our first week of night shifts and all of our patients ended up okay!! Haha. Only one more week of nights, then we're back to our normal schedule. It took a few days to get used to the 7pm-7am shift, and it's going to take awhile to get off that, so please excuse us if we're wacky and scrambled-egg brained. Marko's been working quite a bit too, especially lately since one of his coworkers was fired and another one quit. I think they need a new retention plan. Oops, I should keep my thoughts to myself for fear of the pinky ring-ed. (Yea, you know what I'm talking about...)

In celebration of getting through the first week of night shifts we ate a lot of food (which isn't abnormal I guess) and visited the Melbourne Aquarium. We were laughing because the majority of our exploring since we've been here has been to see the animals - 2 zoos and 1 aquarium! I think we're pretty educated on Australia's wildlife so far, Im not gonna lie. But the aquarium was amazing! Penguins, long neck baby turtles, lotsa fish and BIG GIGANTIC-NORMOUS sting rays!! Omg, seriously, these things were legit. Just take a look at the pictures! Dude, they were huuuuge. There were also big wonderful sharks, which we hope to see for ourselves in the wild while we're here. Well, not really.

crazy marko
the mother of all sting rays
dun dun, dun dun, dun dun (i know that's what you're all thinking, don't lie...)
ahhh!! it's so super humungo!!

Additionally, in lieu of Marko's upcoming big 3-0 year o' birth, we purchased tickets to Bali!! Or as the birthday boy likes to say it, "Ba-leeeee" (kinda like Wall-e, the amazing Disney creation according to Marko and I, not so much X, but I digress). Yup, we're going for about 5 days. That lucky duck!! He spent his 29th in Greece and now this. What's next, 31st in an ice cave in Antarctica with the penguins singing and dancing happy birthday?? The possibilities are endless. Anywho, we're all looking forward to ringing in Marko's birthday with sun, massages, good food and good company :) Can't wait!!

over here for
this one's bday

A Night Out at the CROWN!!! Thats right folks we decided it was time to kick up our heels and get our groove on at the exclusive Crown Casino, which to put it simply is a mini wannabe Vegas complete with gambling, clubs, and late night foods (with options from greasy fries to indian to chinese to greek, very multicultural drunk food!), perfect for when stumbling out of the club at those late night hours when your starving!! :) For those of you not in the know, it was at the Crown that Tiger's main girl (Utichel? or whatever her name is) was staying in Melbourne when it broke out that he was having the affairs with the 14 or so women last November!! Don't worry, Australians have decided to fork out like $3 million to have Tiger return to this years Australian Master's in November (crazy huh!!) Anyways, the Crown did not disappoint and those of you who know us would be proud to know that we stayed out till...wait for it...3am!!! I know...such party animals!!! But our night was complete with lots of dancing including jamming to a little of my fav David Guetta's "Memories" and Usher's "OMG". Unfortunately they didn't play my newest fav "Airplanes" by B.O.B but we'll have to work on these Aussies.

After staying up till 3am, we got a little late start on our little road trip (we're not as young as we used to be) but after getting ready, Marko picking up the rental car and us eating brunch at our newest favorite industrial decorated cafe Green, we were finally on the road, escaping the big bad city. Complete with a GPS navigation system, Marko behind the wheel focused on staying on the right side of the road (which of course is the left side of the road) and DJ Tanner aka Theresa on the 1s & 2s, we were ready for our road trip. It was crazy cause it felt like the heavens opened up and the sun shined through as soon as we left the busy city streets and headed for the open road, AMAZING!!! Our first stop was Healesville Animal Sancuary, a patient recommendation....so fun! We saw platypus', koalas, kangaroos, tazmanian devils and dingos among many others. We even got to see a procedure on a king bird at the animal hospital, so cool! From there we headed to Daylesford, a recommendation from my adoptive Italian family of this wonderful patient that I took care of in my hospital (THANKS!!). Daylesford is known as a spa getaway and is built on a mineral springs, my kind of place! Daylesford was this adorable small town in the middle of no where that we actually almost hit a Kangaroo on this one lane road on the way there! Anyways our hotel suite, at the Daylesford Royal Hotel was very cute and the next morning we went and enjoyed our booked 2hour massages...mmmmm!!! After lunch we slowly made our way back, stopping at the Chocolate Mill (yummm!) and hiked The Hanging Rock (much despite my objections as I was freezing and tired) but it turned out to be a beautiful hike and a little exciting as a little boy got stuck up on a boulder and the firemen/rangers had to be called to get him down. Once we made it back to the city we capped off the relaxing/fun filled weekend with a night at the movies watching Toy Story 3 in 3D Extreme....love it! ;)
