Too Hot to Handle!!!

Yes the rumors are true...we are officially Aussie RNs now, and just so you know thats pronounced Auzzie, not Aussie....such a yankie mistake!!! Haha!!! We've finished two FULL days of 8 hour shifts, so weird to only work 8 hours shifts P.S., and I can officially say that although I feel completely prepared as far as our nursing skills and knowledge are concerned...I have no idea what is coming out of their mouth about 95% of the time, whether its because of their Auzzie accents, their Auzzie slang, or the meer fact that I've literally never heard of what they are talking about cause either we've never come across that disease/procedure in the states or we've never used/seen that medication. Talk about looking like a deer caught in the head lights!!

But I must say, although we've only worked just two days, I am thoroughly excited about the people that we are working with. Not only are they incredibly friendly, extremely funny but are proving to be very intelligent. Its great too because it seems that they have an equivalent of our mentorship program which I feel Theresa and I will be turning to quite frequently these first few months. But don't get me wrong, nobody is better then the exceptional nurses and staff on 6West, woo woo!!! :)

Here's us putting our 6West skills into practice...I mean practicing our 6West skills prior to our first day on the job!!! ;) Thats right, check out my technique!!!!

Well to keep ourselves sane from the unknown of Australia's healthcare system, Marko, Theresa and I all experienced our first Footy Game!!! Quite possibly the coolest game ever!!! Well at least from what I've seen so far...I haven't seen a rugby game yet, or cricket for that matter. Anyways, Australian's are so funny about their sports, and by funny I mean like really hardcore. I have never laughed so hard listening to some of the trash talking going on around me during that game!!! So glad I wasn't on that field making any mistakes!! I've even already been educated on what teams are and aren't ok for me to root for, i.e. buy team scarfs for, which of course I will be doing!! Haha!!! And don't worry I"m not even trying to learn the rules cause its just a lost cause, probably one of the most confusing games I've ever watched but it sure is exciting!!!

We also spent the day looking for a gym to join, better yet the YMCA, but instead we spent the afternoon taking pictures in front of some of the crazy art sculptures around the docklands, which were so cool!!! My favorite was the one of the cow caught up in the tree!!! Yea we never made it to the Y... oh well... better luck next time!! :)
